Dr. Saad Saad is a physician specializes in the performance of the pediatric surgical operations. Through his career, he has performed thousands of operations. He has served people from his community and also outside for a period of more than forty years. He helped young adults and children in Holy land and also in the United States, where he comes from.
Dr. Saad created a device capable of locating a catheter in the human body without manipulation of machine scan. Medical catheters are basically tubes used for a variety of purposes. The tubes are usually inserted in the body during surgeries or while treating several medical conditions. The tubes serve the purpose of draining fluids and gases, and enable access to surgical instruments among other duties depending on which type of catheter is being used. Catheters can be left in the body permanently or just for a period of time.
Surgeons must be able to track the exact location of the catheter for it to be inserted inside the body. X-rays are performed so as to locate the exact position of the catheter. Though a single X-ray does not expose you to severe radiations, frequent X-rays will. Therefore, an alternative for this is the MRI ( Magnetic Resonance Imaging). However, machines used for the magnetic resonance imaging are not portable because they are large.
There are catheters whose position can be easily identified through the use of electromagnetic energy. This is because they do possess an integral electromagnetic location identification device. The catheter has 2 wires in its walls while its tip is made of magnetically permeable materials. This helps the surgeon to scan on the outer side of the patient’s body by the use of an external locating tool. Once the toll is over the catheter, there is creation of an output voltage which passes through the wires resulting to the illumination of light in the locating tool, alerting the doctor that the locating toll is directly over the catheter.
